Welcome Mary and Mike

The Transportation Engineering Division of the Center for Public Safety is pleased to announce the appointment of two new adjunct instructors, Mary Ahern and Michael Gingrich.

Mary Ahern brings many years of traffic engineering experience to the center. She specializes in traffic engineering and traffic signal system design and optimization, as well as traffic counts, audible pedestrian signal design, emergency vehicle preemption and design, traffic signal warrant studies, traffic impact studies, planning studies, street and highway design, and road side hazard prevention.

Michael Gingrich is a Senior Project Manager for Ourston Roundabout Engineering. He has been practicing traffic engineering for over 11 years. With mentors such as Barry Crown, Mark Lenters, and Mark Johnson, Michael has developed his expertise in roundabout analysis and design. His roundabout design projects range from diamond interchanges, expressway terminus and multi-roundabout corridor systems. These complex designs have incorporated consecutive dual left turn and dual right turn configurations utilizing spiral striping and bypass lanes. Michael's designs include specialized signing, pavement markings, street lighting, and landscape recommendations.
